POKEMON SNAP
Homepage

Let's get snap happy

By WILL BARKER

The Pokemon sensation is sweeping the world, and analysts say that within another 36 months Pikachu will be the Earth's supreme leader. (But not if I have my scope and three rounds of ammo left ... heheheh).

Pokemon Snap is all about photography, and the game runs along rails where the player must essentially take photos of the entire species of Pocket Monsters (Pokemon's alter name).

This at first is quite annoying, the fact that you can .t steer where you want can get frustrating. But in the end it is all for the best as the way the game works is quite novel.

At the end of each level you get awarded on how good each of your photos is, and remember you have a limited film so don .t get snap happy.

If you take a photo of a creature's behind, you .ll receive a bad mark, however on the other hand if you take a photo of a critter doing something crazy, dancing for example, then you normally would receive top marks.

To make the vermin in the game complete crazy actions you have at your disposal a number of items like food and instruments, which screw with the creatures' brains. Cool!

As far as 3D Pokemon goes this is the bees . knee, so to speak. Everything looks awesome and although I really despise Pokemon I couldn .t help but stare in satisfaction at the quality visuals on display.

This game is very different, it's novelty is clever, and the game is long winded so you .ll be playing this title for months to come.

What else can I say? I guess if you are a Pokemon fan then you need this game, otherwise it .s just a fun romp through a weird world.
